Yes, it's happened yet again. In the last four years, I've gone through almost five cameras. This hobby isn't cheap that's for sure, but trying to either photograph the dolls, rement or the family, I've needed or have used several different ones. It all started when Little Man was born and the technology of a 6 megapixel camera. Wow, that was big time I thought and needed something for FireHoth that was easy to use. We had great and I mean great pictures of Little Man, but it was big, bulky and didn't have a digital display at the time. So then came point and clicks. These were great, could fit into my back pocket and be carried everywhere. And my Canon and Nikon Cool Pix did just that, went on many trips and adventures. But trying to get good doll pictures with them, was a little bit of work on my part and at the time, didn't really have to just play with pictures. I needed something that was fast and worked under all light sources, especially day light. And me being me, I also wanted something that could be carried easily and not contribute yet another bag on top of my purse and the diaper bags. We've also been doing a lot of hiking in the last couple of years and that meant a zoom lens. Well to try and find something that's not to heavy, great features, zoom and no bounce flash meant having to use several cameras even in my own house and that was a hassle to say the least.
With the development of technology along comes another Nikon. But not just any old Nikon, 10.3 megapixel, 26 times zoom, tons of features. Although I lost 2 megapixels from going to this, I gained 6 times more zoom and the ability to finally take a picture of something that is an inch away from the lens and not distort it. (the rest of the week, will be test pictures)
This has got to be the best camera I've ever had. I've already started to take a ton of close up and macro pictures of various dolls and nature, and also just everyday pictures. Having a camera where you don't either need the flash, and or it actually knows how to use the light around it, is a godsend. It's quick, has a nice added feature of the 3 inch lens being able to tilt in small spaces. Plus it has a much better stabilization than my previous cameras (meaning doesn't notice my hand shake) This is something new that I've had to deal with, my hands just shake when holding a camera, not sure why, but they do and it's been an issue with getting close ups/macro. But I also have a couple of tripods that I can use for long term, but the Coolpix P100 even stabilizers better so that's great for me. It's got 17 scene modes, that I've just yet been able to play with. Must go to the aquarium and the museum to see how they really work.
So with some test shots even FireHoth can take a good picture again. All I have to do is set it, and hand it to him. Out at lunch, first day with new toy.
Rare, but even a photo of me I like that's not professional :)
