Happy Halloween

Even though our anniversary is today, it's still Halloween, and Little Man's first outdoor Trick-Or-Treating couldn't have gone better. The weather was warm, or warmer for Halloween here in Colorado, which means no snow on the ground, no snow or sleet or rain coming down and actual warmish weather.  IT WAS GREAT.  He's had the last five years for Halloween, but he's always been at home with us cuase he was just too small and he really doesn't need that much candy, but this year, was his year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

For those of you who haven't seen the Facebook posts, he chose a ghost this year. Thank you WalMart. It actually would've been good if it had been snowing or raining, since it could go over a ski jacket.

The neighborhood started early this year, since Halloween fell on a school night. We had 80 bags for the night half fulled of goodies and within two hours we had one bag left. I know what we are going to do next year.

His Favorite Toys

Are now in adult size. Little Man is crazy and I mean CRAZY about cars, so last weekend we had a chance to go to Bandimere Speedway and he was just in heaven. Below are just some of the cool Chevy cars we got to see and I added the video of the Rocket Cars, boy were they amazing. The rest can be seen here in his album.

     

     

Little Man and I had just gotten done with checking out the cars and the Rocket Race was getting ready to start. I got some fantastic video of it, so turn up your speakers.

 

Denver Zoo Lights

I've lived here almost all my life, and a few weeks ago was the first time I've had a chance to make it down to the Zoo in the winter time to see the Zoo Lights. It was great and for sure needs to be done again. The night was cold, but no wind, clear and hot chocolate was about every 75 feet or so.  Here are the pictures of that beautiful night. I found the PERFECT setting for the camera at night and tis is what I came out with.

Yep, that's Little Man standing next to the polar bear. He was bundled up like a polar bear. He was such a trooper. It was actually really cold, and he held it together till just about the end of the park.  Got him in Mr. Tingles, all wrapped up with a blanket and was asleep within 10 minutes.

Green Eyed Lady

Several weeks ago our doll group, COBJD got together and went to Fairmont Cemetery, the same place we got our lovely wedding pictures taken at.  It was a beautiful crisp October day.  The weather couldn't be more perfect.  I took several dolls, but the main one that I took pictures of was my beautiful green eyed Witch, Ella Rose Phaba.  She is a SD Bobobie Charisma Horned Elf.  She's also very green and makes not only a great witch, but a beautiful doll to photograph, especially in the cemetery.  When I first saw her years ago, the song by Sugarloaf always came to mind: Green Eyed Lady.  So here she is, out and about, and her song.

More Reasons to Love Colorado

With my new camera, I've been able to get some great shots of everyone and that includes are great weather.  We've had a very odd June and July, but it's been producing great rainbows.

Outside for the Summer

Hopefully we are WAY OVER all our snow, because Little Man got an early Birthday/Christmas present. Since we aren't quite sure what the weather will be in December, he got a play set by Rainbow Play Systems today and I think he's enjoying it.  The Castle Package II pretty much covers the entire left side of the yard, which is good, because Little Man will have a lot of adventures in this for many years to come. When we were at the showroom, there were about 12 or so set up and wow, he just had a ball.  This should outlast him. 

 

labor Day Weekend 3

On Sunday we went to Barr Lake State Park.  Little Man had his passport from our first park hike, and he actually picked this one.  We'll never let him pick a park again.  I say this because although it's a beautiful park, we didn't realize when we started on the hike that it was going to take almost five hours and nine miles to complete.  But WOW, what a fun day we had.  We started with Little Man and his swimming class, went out for brunch at the Grande Luxe, then up to the lake.  With the amount of food we ate at brunch we figured we'd walk some of it off.  HA HA HA HA, FireHoth and I both lost 1.5 pounds, and god only knows what Little Man lost.  He didn't loose his cool though.  He stuck out the entire walk with us, and only had to be carried about a mile total, off and on.  Daddy had him a couple of times and I had him a couple of times.  He got to see all kinds of wildlife on this hike, and this will be his longest that he's ever done.

The scenery was just beautiful.  Peaceful, quite and the day was cool and overcast.

Finally at the lake itself.

On one side of the dam, have to go all the way to the other side.  From here, we actually thought we could do it in about an hour. :)

Little Man got a chance to see not one, not two, but three trains, up close and personal.  Even got a chance to wave to the conductors.  We should've bought some pennies with us.

Now he starts to loose his mind and wonders when he'll see the truck again.

   

I got to carry him for about 15 minutes.  He's a lot lighter this way than any other, and he was able to see over the preserve.

   

This is the other side of the dam from the above pictures.  This was about three hours to get to this side.

Then finally around 4:30PM the sun came out and was at our backs and just lit up the woods.

   

And for all of his hard work, and hardly any complaining, he got for the first time ever, Ice Cream for dinner.  He was so excited.  The hour car trip back down to home, we thought he would fall asleep, but he kept reminding us about ice cream for dinner.  I'm so proud of him.  I don't think he'll ever say "mommy I'm bored" :)

Labor Day Weekend 1

Wow, this was a busy weekend for us.  WE actually thought we could do three parks in three days, but wound up doing two parks, and one museum which was even better.  Our first park for the weekend was Cherry Creek State Park.  Nice and warm out and a perfect day for it on Saturday.  I even took JoAnna out for one of her first times outdoors.  Little Man got kissed and licked by several puppies who were also out and swimming.

Since FireHoth has been doing scale models, we went over to Lowry Air Force Base to the Wings of the Rockies museum.  It's so funny, I've been here most of my life, and had never gotten a chance to get a picture of the bomber that sits on site.  It's so sad that the base isn't there anymore, and that it only has the two hangers for the most part as a remembrance. But I'll make sure that Little Man knows the heritage of the base and why it was here.  He had a blast walking around, checking out all of the planes and all of the memorabilia and daddy teaching him everything.  More of the beautiful planes can be seen here.

   

   

   

   

   

   

   

Lake Macro Flowers

I'm so loving my new camera.  I love the zoom on this and that I can still put it in my pocket. Even though they are just weeds, they were still pretty and a great test subject.

Boulder for the Fourth

We weren't really sure what we were going to do for the Fourth of July and our Saturday, was kind of chilly and wet.  Rained the better part of the evening, and the temperature went down to about 55 degrees.  But while it was still nice out we decided just to drive up to Boulder and just hang out on the mall.  After we at at Old Chicago, and Little Man got lots of props for his hat we met a Tree Ent on the mall.

   

Then down the street to some fire juggling performers.  It was great to get these pictures because my camera actually picked up the flames.

   

Then the little ham just wanted pictures of himself and every statue on the mall.

I think we have a picture of him in his stroller with the Tiger also.

But you can't buy the pig!!!

Then around 9:00PM we tried out hands at the first time of having sparklers.  They went over big. We should've bought more, but will remember next year to buy cases of them. Still working on the "fireworks" setting on the camera, but I think it would've helped if my subject had KEPT STILL.
