Colorado Rainbows

We've had some really odd weather here lately.  It's either wickedly hot, or down to 48 degrees.  We've been getting a lot of rain this summer also and along with the rain, there is always a rainbow behind our house.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Flowers For My Birthday

Well, not exactly.  We were waiting out side of the Melting Pot for our gang for some delicious food, and I had to take the new camera out for some flowers that were at the end of the street.  I'm always a sucker for zoom and flowers if I can find them.  These are the first two of hopefully many more for the summer. I didn't get them as steady as what I wanted, I'm blaming the wind instead of my shakes, but wow, the colors came out fantastically.

Oh Venus

It's been extremely windy here and I haven't been able to get out and get some of the moon shots that I've wanted to do, but the other day was able to get the moon and Venus in the same shot.  I'm still working on the settings, but I'm just happy that I was able to keep my hand steady.

Ground Hog Moon

On February 2nd that stupid ground hog in Pennsylvania saw his shadow, again.  Imagine that.  Seeing your shadow with lights on you, who would've guessed.  Anyway, I guess we get six more weeks of winter, but here in the Colorado, it was a clear, 60 degree day, and I caught the Waxing Gibbous moon on my camera.  No editing except for my water-mark.

Garden Finery

Many beautiful flowers have suddenly just popped up in the garden.  I hope they don't need much water.

       

And a sentry to protect new flowers.

Actual tiny buds under the Christmas Tree.  We put these in last year, and the buds that are coming up this year are just beautiful.

     

     

Blue Birds

Okay, so since Spring/Summer has started, our back yard has been seeing many little critters. Yesterday Merry was actually battling a prairie-dog. But since about late March or so I've been seeing this certain little blue bird, and have been trying to get good pictures of him.  Well yesterday, not only did I get one of him, I got two of them.  They still aren't as good as what I want, (too lazy to go and get the big camera and the zoom lens), but they are pretty.  We've got to get some bird feeders out there and soon.

Swetsville Zoo

While in Fort Collins, we finally got a chance to stop by the Swetsville Zoo.  It's an entire zoo/park made out of scrap metal and parts.  Each sculpture has a name and personality.  The "zoo" is open pretty much year round, while the sun is up.  They don't charge for admission, but donations are greatly appreciated.  I took a lot of pictures, some here and the rest over at Flicker.   This has been cross posted over to Notes From the Cottage also.  I took Izzy up and got some really good pictures of her also.
