So Like I said, this year has already been busy with tons of little projects going on in the house. The basement is getting redone (pictures tomorrow) so the Man Land Cave will finally be a working basement. We are all abuzz here and FireHoth is just biting at the bit. With the writing, (Saturday) all of the new furniture should be in the house and put together by the wonderful team of American Furniture. But on with how all of this started first.
Over the holiday, all of the dollhouse that the Lati's live in have not only taken over the living room, but have also migrated to the upper library, my library for my Faery books and D&D studies. The top shelf has just gotten so cluttered and overran it's making me nuts. So, what's a doll lover to do? Well, get rid of furniture that's not being used and make room for just dolly stuff, duh. I talked to FireHoth about it and the love seat that is in the upper library rarely has been used in the eight years we've been here. Usually I have to have stuff on it to keep Mistress Merry and her hair off from it. Purple velvet couches and fine white hair just doesn't work. And with doing that, it made it very crowded and cluttered, and I can't live that way. So it was told to me to move the sofa and put a table in that spot. WOW what a wonderful idea. HEE HEE HEE.
Here is what the library looked like when we first bought the house. It's actually suppose to be a dinning room, but we will never have family over for that, and when we do, we all eat in the kitchen, so useless space. Nice size room on it's own, but not conducive to big family dinners.
We had an open house during Christmas of 2003 and all of the furniture was in it. Still looks good, but I think the only time I actually used it, was when I was nursing Little Man when he was a baby. The chair and ottoman were great back and leg support. And with the find of purple couches at the time, I'm not giving them up. They are just too pretty, but not practical.
So now the love seat that's on the right is down in the basement for FireHoth (and more on that tomorrow), the rug has long been gone and a decent set of bookcases on the left are coming in today. I apparently buy more Fairy books than what I have the room for, but oh well.
So now, empty space. Even clearing out the sofa made so much room. I didn't realize how over stuffed they were till they aren't there. And yes the tree was still up at this picture taking.
Two card tables from Walmart that are 34 square.
Tables put together with some extra shelving from the basement to get the right length. The depth is perfect, but needed to be longer. All of the Lati's houses have been taken out of the living room (thank god) and now put in one central space, across from my Fairy books and D&D books. How fitting.
Gray Gardens, the Ghost Writer and Pearls Love Shack have all been moved. The little house on the left is a half inch scale four room abode for the incoming Fairyland Real Puki Soso girl (still needs much work, but it's here and that's all that's important for now). We went to the antique store over the weekend and I found a miniature fire hydrant and some Department 56 trees at a steal. Ash's Ghost Writer ship is finally docked in a better place.
Another shot of the Soso's new house. I think she's going to like this and make much mischief.
Pearl has her Love Shack in a new spot and the house behind it on the left will probably wind up being hers. More room for her to sell her wares.
This space might also house an "N" scale miniature train. We'll have to put some other things up, but I'm pretty sure I can put it where I want it and this little house was perfect for it. So cute.
Even the girls got in on the fun and excitement. Maybe now they wont be plotting my death.
Ash's Ghost Writer is in a new spot and I think he's very happy about looking down on the girls. He's trying to get a light house out of this, so him and I are going to need to talk.
Looking very studious and serious, she's getting her merchandise together for the new shop.
Now on the first of January, we went out and got the plywood, and a smaller sheet to put on top, green grass and started to staple and glue everything down to make it look more homey :)
What it looks like now with the grass and the houses pretty much in the right spots. All of the mini Christmas lights have been finally affixed in the Ghost Writer and Gray Gardens so they wont fall.
Even new cubbies for underneath with storage compartments. There will be a very nice curtain treatment wrapped around so not to see all of that and I have a stool to sit on while taking pictures.
And while everything is being worked on, the fairies brought out the orange cones, police tape and pylons to keep others away.
I'm so please with how this is turning out. Everyone in one place and so convient. I have one window on the left hand side with natural light, no sunlight though, so that's good, and I can set my tripod up better now also. I still have a place for the Mini Wheat stage so that's even better.
