YAHOOO, last week I ordered what I think might be the last "boy" doll for the Woodes. Ever since I had my first doll, a Volks Megu, so long ago down to my beautiful Constance Willow, I have been looking for THE boy to be with her. All this time, I've been looking at sites for years, and trying to find what I thought would be the best companion for her. Since everyone in Reddiker Woodes is part of Faery, I had the notion that HE should also be Faery, even down the pointy ears. I think in five years, I've gone through at least five or six different boy sculpts, molds, what have you. I had came up with the name, Gustave Fane and have always had it in my head. I had him portrayed as a traveling half elf Bard. I've had Gustave's story almost written down, and pretty much settled, but I never could seem to get Constance and Gustave in the same photo frame. There was always something just not right with the guy dolls I had.
In doll world, there seems to be that most girls in this hobby, want a spindly, pale, waif of a boy for a doll. I've even seen so many of them, dressed up as girls. For the love of god, buy a girl doll. So in the last five years, the companies I think are starting to listen to the older ladies who are in this hobby, and make a boy doll, look like a boy, rather look like a MAN, instead of some androgynous spineless thing that can be manipulated. Once such company is Iplehouse. I have to give credit where credit is due to this wonderful fine and enabled me to find my Prince. winternightpoem on Flickr is a dear friend, and she recently told me of a MSD girl that she is getting. So being the curious one and not as up to date on some of the molds coming out, had to go and see her. Not only did I see her beauty JID I Girl (love her face), but with going to the main page, I was met by this stunning beast of a man.
OMG. Not only does he look like a man, just in the face, he's got the body of a god. (FireHoth has some competition)
Introducing, Iplehouse's Tedros, the Circus Master. I checked every picture on the site, then started to do my usual stalking research on DOA and Flickr. There was no way I could pass him up. Many odd things about him: he's 70cm, will barely be able to fit in the Dolls House, (but that's okay, he'll probably be laying down most of the time), he's got dark hair, (mostly all of my clan are in blonde, pale blonde, white, or gray wigs), and three he's much darker than what I would normally get. The site is saying "real skin", but he almost looks tan, but that's okay also. I was able to get in before the cut off date, so that means that he's going to be a limited sculpt which is even more exciting. I don't get too many of them, and if I do, it's on the second had market. He is the Super Hero body sculpt. There was the choice of SH or Model, and the model was good, but the SH is just breathtaking and he looks like a real man. I had heard about these sculpt, but not too many of them on line. Like I said, for some reason the girls that are in this hobby, want someone they can dominate I guess. Not many want a sculpt that is a real man, and for that, it makes it really hard for the handful of us that do. Well not anymore.
Shots of the Super Hero Body, general.
I have been writing, thinking of names, his background, history since last week. He probably wont show up in the Woodes till around April, but that's fine. That time will give me some writing time and get his history down better. I'm taking some of my old SD's (Gustave Fane) history and melding it into this body more than trying to make the body fit my character and that's really fun.
I have always loved a Circus them, and even though all of the rest of the gang isn't so much in a circus or carnival, I can make an exception for him. I haven't been so excited about a doll in forever. Not even my JoAnna...well, I take that back, but for an SD size, I haven't been this pumped in years. I've gotten so use to my tinys that it'll be great to get back to the SD size again.
So some more pictures of him and these are all from the Iplehouse site.
Dark and brooding.
Some profile pictures.
I'm going with the full beard version. The unbearded looks good, but too young. His character that I've got for him is from the late 1800's as opposed to just the Faery Realm.
Since I was able to, I went for the full, complete, ensemble of this beautiful guy:
Super Hero Body, more Mobility Type (I want him to pose as much as possible), full outfit as shown, boots, hat, ruffle shirt, pants, hat and bag. The walking stick, (love that it's a skull), wig, enchanted eyes, which are just glowing. Kind of reminds me of a certain vampire.
And since he is part of the Circus Line from IpleHouse, he has special features. He's the Lion Tamer, so yes, the full Lion Chimera head, feet, hands and tail are coming along with those beautiful blue eyes. In my mind and history, he's a changeling and will be a perfect way to introduce him to the rest of the gang. And with Constance, that Beauty and the Beast memory.
The ideas and stories floating in my head are nuts right now.
And he's even getting another not so formal outfit, sleepwear and a 70cm bag. None of my other bags will fit him. :)
Little Man even came up with his last name: Valentine. So it might be Lord/Sir ________ Valentine. I love it. So now the long 50+ day wait.
A perfect Anniversary present for four years in our local club.
HE'S PERFECT, at least on film. :)
