The Flower Crowning Chair

After years of wanting this chair it's finally home. I'm super excited about this chair. Most SD size furniture isn't that great, and if it is, you usually have to pay a little higher for it, well, it's worth it. You diffidently get what you pay for. I'm glad that I bought this now because I have the feeling you wont be able to get it soon, but that's just my feeling. 

The Volks Flower Crowning Chair is the epitome of elegance. Colors of gold and cream have really made an impact on the room that it'll be in.  I'm actually changing out some of the rooms in the Doll House and this chair had to be a part of the makeover. I'm going to be taking actual profile pictures of ALL of the dolls in the coming weeks for a book and this chair I think will make a great background for the photos.

I Don't Even Have This Many Closets

Yes, my dolls are very spoiled.  Over the winter we had actually made a little closet that I thought I was going to put some of the Little ones clothes in.  It was going to sit on the wall, in front of Hyacinth Cottage, but it's never gotten up yet.  So while out last week at Target, I spotted this, and already done.

     
 
It's the Our Generation doll wardrobe, and completely built.  I love the idea of the shelves on the left, the little drawer and the mirror with seat.  The little bows just kill me.  

     

Here is Evelynn testing it out with her clothes.  It's perfect for the 16inch MSD's.  I think I'm going to be putting in all of theirs, (Evelynn, Harley & Nyteshade) and probably Izzy's. 

 

It even has holes and molly bolts to attach to the wall, but for now, I have it sitting over House Mysterium. So I still have the room for the first one we made, and might actually be able to arrange the little ones clothes even better.

Although it's a "courting chair", I'm pretty sure the twins will still like to be able to have close conversations in it.

Changing Tables, Tea Hutches, oh My

Had a fantastic birthday weekend, lots of goodies gotten, and food eaten, but now to get back to work.  Oh, so much going on and so many pictures need to go up. More residents coming in, ones going out, lots of props and clothing, jeesh, I'm tired.

But for Claudia and Bethany's house I wanted to get some more pieces of furniture and found these great little buys on evilBay.  I had never seen them before in our dollhouse shop so had to snap them up quick.

This is a little changing table that suppose to be in the nursery of a house.  I thought it would be great as a side table by the bed.  It's wide enough on top to hold a lamp, books, reading glasses, and bottle of pills.  Has two drawers and two little basked like drawers.

The second one is a Tea Hutch/cabinet.  I love that it's got glass on three sides so you can see inside of it, and probably going to place the little pink tea set from the Uttori Sweets set inside of it to showcase it better.

Third up are just basic little medicine cabinets.  The pair of them might go in the sitting area and will hold various little goodies.

I had forgotten that I already had one set of the Rement, American Kitchen, but bought another one.  I didn't want to share with the other residents of the woodes, so the twins will get their own set.  There is a lot of modern items in this set, but I'm okay with that. There are certain things that they will need from it.

Princess & The Pea Bedding

Yeah, I'm just overjoyed with JoAnna's new bedding.  It arrived from Canada care of lace52000 and I couldn't be happier.  We are going to work on my SD (Constance's) bed and my MSD (Evelynn's) bed in the next few months and I can't wait.  I've been wanting these two beds to be done up for so long and now that I know what I want they are going to be great.  Now to find the proper colors.

Even the box and enclosed letter was done up pretty.

   

The bedding is so much bigger in person and the heart flowers are almost the size of the palm of your hand.  The third set of mattresses down is the coordinating sheet set (one with the white lace).  I still don't want to take it apart for the sheet, I just love how it looks all made up.

I took many, MANY pictures of the sets on the bed and of the room itself.  I don't know when this girl is going to get here, but she'll have one of the best rooms in the Doll House, and a very pretty place to lay her head.

   

I actually took the head/foot boards of because the bolsters are just so much better and look more appropriate.

   

I just want to be shrunk and sleep here.

   

Great landscape shot of room.  Still a few more things to be put up on the walls for the loft and a bunch of stuff to do for the perfume shop above.  But overall, I'm very pleased with how this is coming about.

This past week, I had even been able to get the other pieces of furniture painted.  The couch will be going though, because I found the matching chaise lounge to the tufted chair.

I took the Rement wardrobe from Ash and put the top back on it, and placed it here by her washroom.  I just got the mylar mirror over the weekend and need to place the shelf on the wall.

The perfume shop is a little plain right now, but it'll get there. Sonya has just been running her claws in the ground trying to get caught up, so she needed a rest.

Princess and the Pea

Lace52000 finished my bedding for JoAnna and it's wonderful.  Oh, I can't wait for this set to come in.  It looks so great and she did such a wonderful job.  I've had the best talks with her while we've been collaborating and will probably have the rest of the bedding in the doll house done, now that I know what I want.  That seriously was half the problem.  I knew what I wanted for my beds, but didn't know how to describe it, but when I saw her original set, WOW, that was exactly it.  I've been checking the Canadian post hourly awaiting this arrival.

Repurposing

Fixing up old furniture is just so fun, especially when you figure out what you want done to said furniture.  With doing JoAnna's room, I had a choice to figure out what bed to use.  I took out the old Barbie bed, (just too much plastic and didn't look put together right), and took an old wooden slat bed that I had and combined the two, so to speak.  The four poster part of the bed, got added to the wooden part of the bed.  Slats re-glued and wood glue to stabilize everything.  I went on the look out on Flickr for "doll bedding" and found lace5200 who made this bedding.  I have been trying to figure out for the last four/five years how to do bedding for the dolls, and separate mattresses is just perfect. 

Lace5200 found a wire type basket at one of her local stores and made Princess and the Pea type of mattresses.  How cool is that.  I had been looking for guest towel type size bed for JoAnna, but no matter how much I looked, couldn't find anything.  Well, on Saturday, I did a search and found her.  I love the idea of separate mattresses in coordinating fabrics, bolster pillows, and a sheet.  I contacted her and she's going to make a set for JoAnna's bed like hers, but in a different size.  Her bedding for her Dals is 16x9 and my bed is 12x6.  If she has some extra material she's going to send it so I can make the head/foot boards out of the same material.  I'm even making up a quick story for JoAnna to find something under her mattresses once she gets here.  

Depending on how good this turns out, and from all conversations and pictures, it's going to be fabulous, I might have her make me a set for Evelynn's new room (which still hasn't gotten done) and maybe for Constance.

Quick preview of the new room. The pink striped and black striped paper so didn't work. I'm going to use the pink/black theme in another room I think later in the spring. The gold striped and pink flowers works so much better.  I used the same black ribbon on the bottom floor to keep with some of the black, and sea foam green for the top floor.

And now the new bed and furniture with new paint.  I wanted to still find a wrought iron type of bed, but after a week of searching nothing was big enough or the right price, so on to the paint store.  I found a can of metal type spray paint and painted the bed.  It really does work to take your time to spray paint something the right way, and have it turn out great.  I'm so happy with how the bed turned out now.  It finally looks like it's all one piece.

Even repainted the old sorry looking couch in a flat black, and just getting ready to paint the little legs gold.  Still need to make the cushion just a little fluffier.  But it looks so smooth now as opposed to hand painting.

Some other pieces that I've had and glad that I didn't throw out.  They look much better now also.

    

Le' Powder Room

JoAnna Turtledoves bathtub has been taken out of storage from the basement. I had forgotten just how cute this was, and so glad I never got rid of it.  Perfect size, came with a towel rack, small bottles, cheap looking towels, (wrong color anyway) and a mirror. I'm going to paint the towel rack and the feet to to the tub gold to match the rest of the furniture.

Noir is in the room to check out the sizing for me and see how it all looks.

And finally got a chance to take out my Re-Ment chest of drawers.  It's the perfect size for putting little girly items in. All the drawers open and the light actually works with two AAA batteries.

I put in the the little Re-Ment Cafe chair set also, to see how the scale is going to work. After all, she's going to needs some place to sit and drink tea.

Redecorating Rooms

So I've gotten my papers to start re-doing Noir's old room, but just can't get the right look that I'm wanting yet.  I've just taken some early pictures and have cleared most of everything thing out  Some of the old Barbie/Bratz furniture has been repainted, but it's still not looking right.  I'm not sure what I'm missing, but I know I'll figure it out.
