A few weeks ago we had a "movie night". Now movie night is suppose to actually involve movies, but we wound up just sitting around the kitchen table all night with the computers and talking. It was great. It's so nice to be around a group of friends and be able to talk without having to have the TV on. Miss "S" even made some really cool armbands for the SDs.
Hi all. I've been extremely busy and didn't get a chance last week to post the cookies for Friday, so today you all are getting a double dose. The past month we've had some ladies over for Friday Night Movie Night and last week we premiered Doll Master, which is perfect for our group. Check out the link to see more about it. The movie features the AI from Custom House and what happens when you love so strong and what that love can do. A must have for doll lovers.
The cookies that were featured last week were the Maple Walnut Trunks. Same Chocolate Chip Cookie mix, but with maple sugar instead of granulated sugar and half whole-wheat flour. Omit chocolate chips. Spoon 1 teaspoon finally chopped walnuts and 1/4 teaspoon maple syrup into mini muffin cups, then top each with a tablespoon of dough. Bake about 10 minutes at 350.
The actual cookie for tonight will be Game Day Bars. Sorry no picture yet, trying to stay ahead of the game especially with Mothers Day coming in two days. All I can say is THANK YOU FOR THE SPA :)
Make Chocolate Chip Cookie dough, with just 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Instead of chocolate chips, add 2 cups chocolate chunks, 1/2 cup crushed pretzels and 1/2 cup peanuts. Press into a 9x13 inch pan; sprinkle with more pretzels. Bake 40-45 minutes at 350. FYI I haven't made this yet so I hope the time on this is good.
I've gotten all of the pictures up from our "movie night" and it was so much fun. I can't remember when I've taken so many pictures. I've waited for this box set it seems like forever. Not just to buy it, but to actually have a time to get it and watch it. I was so into Charmed when it first aired on The WB, I couldn't stand it. I watched the first three seasons loyally, but had moved during the middle of the third, and hadn't got the satellite installed in time, and new apartment, missed episodes. So I figured I would wait for the entire series to be over with, but never thought it would be eight years. When I had first seen the boxed set for sale, it was a normal box of each season. Pretty cool, but I think they could've done better. Two years later I looked this up on Amazon this weekend, and bought it without question. We are getting through so many shows, that are next big screening will be Charmed. 49 DVD's, almost 180 episodes, back scenes, and a bonus CD. I'm in heaven.
I was so excited when we went to the mall over the weekend. We walked past Hot Topic and I noticed in the window that they took the New Moon items down and their were tea cups on the windows. That could mean only one thing. They've started caring the Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland supplies and goodies. YAHOO. Must check back often to find just the right shirt, but for now, the key chains and the pens are all mine :) Squeal with excitement.
We've loved A Christmas Story since it came out, oh so many years ago. We already own the DVD, but even when it comes on we still watch it at least a couple of times while it's on television. We were at Best Buy over the weekend and checking out the videos and found this great collector tin with all kinds of goodies packed inside. I can't wait for the time for Little Man to sit down and watch it and appreciate it the way millions of others have. It would've been great for a miniature lamp inside also, but the apron and cookbook alone are worth the price.
I'm 43 years young, FireHoth is 33 years young and Little Man is almost 4 and this is the first time that we have all seen the Wizard of Oz in the theater. For one night only, Wednesday night all over the nation, the movie was being seen by generations young and old and including us. When we went to see 9 last week, we saw the trailer for it and immediately got our tickets for this once in a life time event. It might be shown at it's 100th anniversary and Little Man will be able to take his children, and we'll be seniors by then. I'm pretty sure if we are still around and can see, we'll go and enjoy it with our grand children. But for now, we have to see it. Little Man will probably be the only kid in his class that has the ticket stub from this, and will be able to tell that he saw it in the theater.
I've watched this movie since I was his age and have loved it ever since, and have also learned how to watch it with the Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon album and that makes it even better. The Blue Ray edition is also out now and can't wait to have it on at the house, over and over again. It will be such a treat to enjoy this with Little Man on the big screen the way it should be seen and for him to have it engraved into his DNA and for him to share when he gets a family.
Saturday before last we all went to see the movie 9. 9 is Tim Burton's and Timur Bekmambetov's animated movie that is set in our world after we destroy it. It's was only about 80 minutes long, but so cool. Steampunk, apocalyptic world and little dolls that move on their own. So naturally I had to have them and the hunt was on. Found them on Monday, they got delivered Thursday. So far just Number 1 and Number 9 are out, but I know I'll find the rest. I'm not sure where they will end up at Reddiker Woodes, but right now they are taking watch on by the Mini Wheat Stage.
Out of their packaging. They are extremely detailed and great props. Now to find the rest of their friends.
I'm so excited that Little Man is getting to that age, where he'll sit still for a movie and that he's not just in his bed watching it. Last week FireHoth had the day off and we went to see Angels & Demons. Great movie, much better than the book, but I had a ticket and daddy was going to stay home with Little Man. Well, when we got to the theater, it was such an early showing that nobody was there, they decided to get tickets and see what would happen. We had tried several months ago to take Little Man to go and see The Watchmen, got a late night showing and tired him out for the day, but he just didn't want to keep still. Well for A&D, he did wonderfully, and it was a long movie. Almost 2 1/2 hours long. We had one potty break and supplied him with chips, nachos, and cookies that he just bounced from my lap to daddy's and that was fine.
Yes, I'll be the first to admit it, I'm a Fan Girl of Twilight and proud of it. I love this movie, the books and everything else associated with it. The other day I was able to find and fairly cheap on evilBay my very own Twilight Chest. It has Bella and Edward on the front, velvet lined inside and very antique looking. Leather handle and piping all around the edges. :) It's so cute. Not sure what I'm going to use it for, but love it. A few weeks ago while we were at the mall I found the Directors Notebook, and a Red Aventurine Apple Charm, from Etsy, to go along with the other numerous Twilight items.
