I love being able to photograph the dolls in differnt ways and I had seen these "dollfie backrops" a while ago and finally broke down and bought some and they are really nice. They are silkscreened and come in several sizes. I bought three for the 27cm and under dolls, The Magic Stage, Old Stage, and Chessfloor Room, (which is my favorite) and one Halloween Eve SD size one. I wasn't sure where I was going to put them, but the most logical place was for them to be right next to the window in the doll room.  The Chessfloor Room is the one up first.

They even work with my littles subjects.

She Was Always Green Eyed

Serenity also got new eyes with the Captured in Glass eye order and I love them in her. She looks snarky and sweet at the same time.

 

 

 

 

My Faery, Serenity

Last week FireHoth got us tickets to go see one of my all time favorite plays, A Midsummer Nights Dream downtown. I hadn't seen the play in at least 15+ years and this was Little Man's first time at the play and he did wonderfuly. He's even more in love with faeries now, and was able to sit through the entire play wiht on one potty break at intermission.

I also decided to take Serenity down and get a couple of pictures of her. She got to wear her Soom faery outfit and I think was rather happy about it. She's a sleepy princess right now. It's rough being a faery princess and ruling over everyone.

 

Angel Stuido had the cutest pirate outfits out and they just arrived at the Woodes. A dress outfit for Serenity and pants for Izzy. The white boots are so cool, but I think Izzy will wear them.

Whose Napping in There?

A few weeks ago, almost a month now Izzy my reporter had to leave unexpectedly. She mentioned something about her little sister and bringing her here.  But while she was gone, I caught Serenity taking a nap in her bedroom. I wonder if she knows something I don't??? Anyway, it was a very cute picture.

Marco Polo At the Mall

So this past Saturday I picked up Shlee and we had two agendas in mind.  Get new eyes and some outfits from DDE and walk around the mall with some of the girls.  We wound up not getting to DDE till almost closing, but the ladies were nice enough to let us hang out for a little longer.  Serenity came back with another set of 12mm eyes, but this time in a really pretty green, and Izzy had came back with 12mm Alice Blue, but as of this writing I've changed them out, yet again.

Blaire, Shlee's Puki wanted to play a game of Marco Polo, and the girls had no way to say no.

The girls had to finally give up and play with Blaire.  She was most pleased.

 

We even had some play time over at our American Girl Store.  They loved the tree house.

I think I see a new pony in Serenity's future.

  

At lunch the girls got the drop on Blaire.

Finally back home to try out the new picnic bench and umbrella and chat with the Poe sisters.

  

Always Learning

As long as I've been in the hobby of the Ball Jointed Dolls, it will never cease to amaze me that you learn something new all of the time.  I've always gone with the default eye size of all of the dolls, but not the same color and that's what makes them unique.  Shlee was telling me a few days ago about what size Serenity, my Fairyland DES takes and I said the 14mm.  Well, the other day I was cleaning up some stuff and found Wobbles "autumn" eyes, and put them in Serenity just to see how the color looked.  They are a 12mm size, Rose Glass eyes and are beautiful in Serenity.  I learned from Shlee that the bigger eyes, or the default that they should have make the dolls look younger (and I could never get them to set right), the smaller eye size have the dolls looking older and Serenity looks so much better now. :)

Pony-Tails & Giants

Little Serenity has only been in the Woodes for about a couple of weeks, and she's already demanding new clothes, eyes, wigs, everything. Well, I'm such a pushover, she pretty much gets what she wants.  There are several outfits coming for her and for Izzy.  We ran over to DDE a few days ago and picked up two wigs for her. One is a Monique Carrot colored red, (which is really pretty) and this LeekeWorld Lacey Choco Brown. The Leeke Wig is great, because it's like two wigs in one.  A short bob and attached pony-tails. Her eyes are also green 14mm glass eyes. They suit her much better than the red vampire default ones.

    

She decided that she wanted to go over to the Lati Wonderland and see what she could see.  Until her other clothes come in, she's wearing an old Blythe dress and Spampy pants.  Almost like jammies but she can go out if she likes.

    
Her posing is just amazing.  She might be a chunkier version of my muse, but she poses so much better than even any SD doll. 

The Leeke Wig with the pony tails attached.  She doesn't have the same stern look that big Serenity did, but she's got that more mischievous, I can get away with anything I want look.

She's already waiting for her favorite holiday.

My Muse, My Love

Wow, I can't believe that it's been almost six years that I've been in the Ball Jointed Doll hobby, and all of those years ago, I thought there is no way I'll pay almost $2000.00 for one doll, let alone owning almost 40 of them to date.  The begining of the month my beautiful "Little" Serenity came home and I couldn't be happier. She is a Fairyland DES (Dark Elf Soo) Little Fee and I think the best Little Fee mold to date, but I love DES's. My first and original DES has been retired and placed on the shelf. I doubt she'll get a body ever again, since this little one can do more, but none the less, she's still loved.  I rarely do "box opening" posts, but couldn't resist with her.

She's so tiny, but so cute.  Chubby little body, but poses like a dream.

      
I got her with the default makeup, so she'd have a face on both her open eyed and closed eye, but the red it a little too harsh for her and makes her look like a vampire.  She's already got new eyes, and will probably get a new face up in the coming year. 

      
The default wig fits, but it's way to EMO for my taste and she doesn't look good in the black at all.  She's natural skin and the black washes her out.  The eyes are pretty, but just not "her" yet.

       
Serenity in her default gown.  The gown and head dress is really pretty, but it's actually way to long for her. Not sue why companies make wigs and outfits that don't fit.  I mean it fits, but the dress part covers her feet even with shoes on, and the arm length is way too long and you can't see her hands.

Since FL takes so long to ship stuff, I decided to add some extra items in the box.  This little Puki Mask is just way too cute.

Her cute sleeping head.  When I had first wrote up the story for Serenity years ago, I had pictured her asleep in some of the pictures, and getting a sleeping head with her was a must. The cute blushing on the ears is wonderful.

Credit Cards, PayPal and Staying Up Late...

...never a god idea, especially within you have a credit card. I didn't miss these like I almost did with the Featherfall stuff.  I wound up getting both outfits.  I can see Izzy and maybe something gfor my Mini Riz???WE'll see.  LIght for Izzy and Black for Serenity.  Two wonderful outfits from Soo.  Had to get the, because I know if I go to find them second hand

will be way too expensive and I want the full set.s
