Colorado Railroad Museum

Little Man's dream field trip was over the weekend when we went out to the Colorado Railroad Museum, in Golden Colorado over Labor Day weekend. Late NDK Post

I was checking my camera today and just realized that I've got a ton of pictures from the last month and a half.  YIKES. We went to NDK, the Anime convention and it was a blast.  Little Man got his pictures taken with a lot of very interesting people. We've already figured that we are going to go to next years also.  

     

     

     

 

 

Marco Polo At the Mall

So this past Saturday I picked up Shlee and we had two agendas in mind.  Get new eyes and some outfits from DDE and walk around the mall with some of the girls.  We wound up not getting to DDE till almost closing, but the ladies were nice enough to let us hang out for a little longer.  Serenity came back with another set of 12mm eyes, but this time in a really pretty green, and Izzy had came back with 12mm Alice Blue, but as of this writing I've changed them out, yet again.

Blaire, Shlee's Puki wanted to play a game of Marco Polo, and the girls had no way to say no.

The girls had to finally give up and play with Blaire.  She was most pleased.

 

We even had some play time over at our American Girl Store.  They loved the tree house.

I think I see a new pony in Serenity's future.

  

At lunch the girls got the drop on Blaire.

Finally back home to try out the new picnic bench and umbrella and chat with the Poe sisters.

  

Zoo Days Pt.2

We've been waiting so long to take Little Man to the zoo, and although it would've been nice to take him when he was younger, I don't think he would've gotten the same experience that he did at four years of age.  He absolutely loved it. He was able to interact with most of the animals and got to see so much. We will for sure go back again and again. Zoo Days

So I've been living here almost most of my life.  I use to take the girls that I nannied for down to the Denver Zoo, but that was literally like two decades ago. The past several years we've been wanting to take Little Man down for Boo At the Zoo and Zoo LIghts, every year, but just keep spacing it out.  So this year I decided that we needed a Zoo membership.  So now we can go whenever and as often as we'd like. My last time there was 1986.  FireHoth's last time there was about 10 years ago.  This was also a great opportunity to take the dolls out for a photo shoot.  Since Morant Markoff Valentine is part lion, that's the persona he took on for the Zoo and was quite admired.  The rest of the Zoo pictures are in their own album.

     

      

     
 
 

 
 
 
 

State Park Number 3

Little Man actually picked out Castlewood Canyon, and he did a pretty good job by looking through his passport book.  Half cement trail, half not, and the half that isn't is just breathtaking.  Little jagged, but very pretty.

  

  

  

  

Boulder for the Fourth

We weren't really sure what we were going to do for the Fourth of July and our Saturday, was kind of chilly and wet.  Rained the better part of the evening, and the temperature went down to about 55 degrees.  But while it was still nice out we decided just to drive up to Boulder and just hang out on the mall.  After we at at Old Chicago, and Little Man got lots of props for his hat we met a Tree Ent on the mall.

   

Then down the street to some fire juggling performers.  It was great to get these pictures because my camera actually picked up the flames.

   

Then the little ham just wanted pictures of himself and every statue on the mall.

I think we have a picture of him in his stroller with the Tiger also.

But you can't buy the pig!!!

Then around 9:00PM we tried out hands at the first time of having sparklers.  They went over big. We should've bought more, but will remember next year to buy cases of them. Still working on the "fireworks" setting on the camera, but I think it would've helped if my subject had KEPT STILL.

   

   

Trail Walkin'

For Memorial Day weekend, we only had one day, which was Sunday to have a decent day to do anything, and even that day ended in a torrential rain storm.  But before that and after swimming we finally got a chance to walk our trail that's by the property of the house. Now this trial, you have to drive to get to, then park then walk about 2 miles.  It's actually a really great walk, and all hilly, but you also have to watch out for and not limited to: Coyotes, Mountain Lions and Rattle Snakes, How fun is that?  Little Man walked pretty much the entire way up and almost back.  We had to take turns carrying him up the hill, but he got a really good work out.

Day at the Museum

Little Man has been watching the death out of Night at the Museum, so it's only fitting to take him down to ours.  This has been the second time without the stroller, and he did pretty good.  The Saturday we went down, was extremely busy, but got to see everything and I got a chance to use my camera setting on "museum" to see how it would work. One of our trips we want to do this year is go to the Aquarium, and I wanted to make sure I get some good pictures, so the museum was a good place to work on it.

Little Man has also seen several space shuttles go up lately and now he wants to be an astronaut.  Picking up moon rocks is part of the job and he did them very well.

Blizzard of March '09 Part Deux

So for the first time ever, Little Man got to go out in the snow on Friday, after the blizzard.

Our snow storm, not a blizzard, was done about as fast as it came, and brought warm, sunny skies the following day.  I had gotten up a little early to clear some more of the front drive way, before FireHoth came and used the snow-blower, but it turned out to be a lot more at the end of the driveway than what I anticipated, so I came inside, and waited for Little Man to get up.  After he had breakfast, I started to notice that the sun came out, everyone in the cul-de-sac was out, blowers in hand and the snow was melting pretty quick. I told him I'd be back and went up to get his two year old snow suit, that still had tags on it, out of the closet.  It's been sitting for just such an occasion.  He looks like Randy from A Christmas Story.

   

He was so excited, except for wearing his boots.  He didn't realize that in order to go out and play in the snow, you have to have the proper equipment, at least to start with.  And, every thing fit him, except his boots.  They fit, but were slightly too tight, and only the first time of them being on. 

So to the backyard we went.  I can't believe that I actually took him out, and that we stayed out there for over two hours.  We wound up in the front, cleared off the rest of the driveway, got to talk to neighbors that we only see when it snows, and had an all around great time.  Over the weekend we wound up getting him new boots that fit and his very own snow shovel.  Can't wait for the next storm.  Some great shots below and the rest here in his album.
